Some looked pretty new and some looked pretty used/were drawn on, but not a problem as I did expect them to be used. All very readable. Just to point out for others -- 2 of the books I received were music/sound books (with working buttons! They were nice books) and that adds some weight, honestly I didn't count but 10lbs of books was something like 12-18 books because of some slightly heavier ones.
