Thermaltake Cooling Fans- Unbeatable Quality
I have had many case fans that have performed with good air flow, but none with the quietness ans smooth running of the Thermaltake. I've custom built computers to provide better performance systems used for small business, personal use, and gamer's that want the best component's available. For my money, I would highly recommend Thermaltake for its long lasting performance and quiet operation. You won't be disappointed, I know I haven't been. just look at the spec's, It says it allI have had many case fans that have performed with good air flow, but none with the quietness ans smooth running of the Thermaltake. Good fan, but careful if you like to tinker.
First, I bought this fan to use in a cabinet with an dc adapter. I was not going to install this fan in a computer. Received. Tested. Worked great. Moves just slightly more air than an 18v brushless fan I connect to a ryobi 18v battery. Began hooking it up. Clipped the end plug to the fan, attached a switch, setup up in my cabinet. Nothing. Realized I switched the polarity. + on - and - on +. No problem, I thought. Switched the polarity to the correct way. Again nothing. Dead. Seems this fan has a circuit board that doesn't have reverse polarity protection (diode). I know this is my fault because I reversed the polarity, but most fans you can reverse the polarity, switch back the correct way and you're good to go. This one... Nooooo. This is not the first fan I've broken, it won't be ... First, I bought this fan to use in a cabinet with an dc adapter. I was not going to install this fan in a computer. Received. Tested. So here are the positives: Moves a good amount of air. Nearly silent--when it worked. Large. Blade-tip to blade-tip measures 7 1/4 inches. Comes with a 3-pin male and female molex adapter. The Negatives: No reverse-polarity protection. Mounting screws are about 3/8" and are way too short. Should be 1 3/8". Doesn't include a grill. Some fans come with grills, some don't. This one does not. In summary, I can't speak of the longevity of the fan, mine only lasted about 10 minutes, but when it worked, it was perfectly silent. Read other reviews that stated theirs were quite noisy. I've had the same problem with other brands of fans where one was whisper quiet and others sounded like a model airplane. Other reviewers complained of short screws and evidently newer reviewers will continue to do so. And finally, remember these fans are probably polarity-sensitive so if you want a fan to tinker with I would choose another brand.
