Frank Sinatra takes on two troubled, destructive souls in these brave 1950s releases. A tense, somewhat prescient drama, SUDDENLY finds Sinatra playing a psychopathic triggerman hired to kill the United States President. He and his two partners seize a widow's house, perfectly situated for an ambush. After Kennedy's assassination, the film was shelved and Sinatra tried to have the prints destroyed. Powerful drama THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM broaches drug addiction in a stark and realistic manner. Sinatra elegantly portrays addict Frankie Machine. Based on the novel by Nelson Algren, MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM received three Academy Award Nominations, including Best Actor for Frank Sinatra.
