    The Tokina AT-X PRO 124 12-24mm F/4.0 AF DX is designed for versatility.       Good value lens

      I received the lens in a very protective package. The lens is good shape, no scratches, but very minor wear which is not noticeable. I don't see dust inside the lens, although there are dusts on the lens surface, the filter, and the rear lens element. I just cleaned them. The glass on the UV filter is a little bit loose. I am OK with it as I can use another filter. The rear cap is not the original Tokina one, but I can accept that, too. It's a good deal.

      Great wide angle lens to have

      The Tokina 12-24mm II wide angle lens is inexpensive, very sharp and built solidly. For all practical purposes, this lens is at least as good as the Nikon 12-24mm DX lens. The version II has its own internal motor for auto focusing and will work on lower-end Nikon DSLR cameras such as D40 and D50. It will also work on modern D3000 and D5000 series cameras. For me, it's a perfect wide angle lens and I'll use it everyday without any reservation.

      Good value and good build

      It's a very good value lens. 12-24 is a nice wide angle. It's f/4.0 which is very good but not as good as f/2.8. It is a tad soft at f/4.0, ok for portraits but sharpens up good at f/5.6. Again for the price, which is half of a Nikon lens, the quality of the photos can't be better.

      Great super wide angle zoom!

      This lens is actually manufactured by a group of Nikon opticians and engineers that started Tokina a number of years ago. There is no disappointment in this lens either. It is pro-quality all the way from optics to fit and finish. I had heard that images were a little soft wide open at 12mm...bunk! The lens is extremely sharp throughout the zoom range. For a DX DSLR this gives you the 35mm equvelant of a 16-36mm lens. I was very fortunate as these sell in the $500 range and I got this for only $200 and in as-new condition! A similar lens by Nikon runs around $1,000...I'm quite happy with this at a fraction of the cost yet every bit as good.
