Prior to purchase, I read all reviews and they are not quite on the mark. This is most likely and Indian or Chinese made knife but certainly not Japanese. I gave the knife a professional honing and it was not quite up to par. It looks impressive; high carbon knife which explains the coat of grease to prevent rusting. It is comparable to my Henckels but falls far short of my Friedr Herder Solingen knives-no comparison.
