    A brand to Avoid

    Audio sound: OK, but poor base unless aux Bose base speaker is used, and the car is not wired for it. Other base units can't be used with this CD player unless compensators are added. Durability: Both electronics and CD changer fail frequently and are costly to repair. Failure rate for both electronics and CD transporter are very high compared to others. Bose accepts repair only via the Mazda dealer network, who wanted over $400 just to remove unit, plus repair fee of at least $800. Very few other shops will repair unit, which incidentally are not made by Bose. Speaker durability is poor, diaphragms and cones loosen with time. Alternatives: the electronics unit can't be replaced with any aftermarket unit, unless the speakers also are changed out, or really poor sound is ...
