Sabalan). The rug has been professionally cleaned. No animal or smoke. There is antique wear and low pile over the century, buy if ok and wanting a large lifetime quality item at a fair price with durability and timeless affect. This special carpet is made of sheep wool and natural vegetable dyes by skilled crafts people from villages and hamlets at the base of Mt. Sabalan. Its mineral rich waters when used to wash the rug during the finishing process lends unusually rich tones famous for the region. Double tied knots upon two foundation layers for another century of durability. Antiqued muted spectrum of red from pomegranate madder root and vermilion, brown earths, wheats and tans from larkspur and weld. Natural dyes oxidize over the century giving light and dark shades of each color called 'abrash' by curators, giving lots of tone nuance.”
