The positive and negative wires on the emitting part (amber light) are backwards. At first, I thought the sensors arrived dead. I even tried them on two different garage door openers. Eventually, after playing with it, I discovered (on accident) the defective wiring. So, if you order the Safety Sensor, just know that the the positive and negative for the the emitting part might be backwards.

I went outside very late and night and tried...sure enough, the wires needed flipped and both sensors lit up when pointed at each other. I wish the description said this or even something in the instructions.
