      Classic design, quality materials, low price

      Love this time-tested design: a slim carbon-steel blade that takes and holds and edge, along with a strong but lightweight beech handle and a simple open-close mechanism. And it is inexpensive, to boot.

      Best available pocketknife for the price

      Frankly, the Opinel Carbone series are the best pocketknives you can get for the price. Are there better knives out there? Of course, but nothing in this price range even comes close. It's not built to be used as a prybar or a screwdriver, but if you're looking for a pocketknife simply to use as a knife, cutting and slicing, then this is for you. A tip for new users, if your knife is very tight to open and close, put some Vaseline inside at the pivot point and put the knife into the oven (on a low temp, like 200F) for 10-15 minutes. The vaseline will absorb into the wood (also partially waterproofing it) and will cause the wood to expand. Then when the knife cools, the wood will contract and leave your knife easier to open and close.

      Value for the money ? Yep. A good little pocket pal.

      These knives are a good pocket tool. The carbon steel is my favorite. Comes "scary" sharp from the factory, use caution. Not a heavy duty survival knife,but a very good everyday carry. Very light,good lockup. A winner. Size # 7 a nice carry size.

      You need this in your pocket

      Turned up at my door seriously sharp. It hadn't been in my house 10 minutes before I managed to hurt myself with it. Assembly quality is A plus. Good steel. Good feel in the hand. The swivel collar locks the blade up solidly-- makes it feel like a belt knife. Bought an 8 and a 7. The slightly smaller 7 feels just right for my pocket & will be my everyday knife, the 8 will come off the bench when I'm working around the place or down in the woods. At this price, this kind of quality is a steal.
