One of the most enjoyable books I've read about the WWII era.

An outstanding and well written book, hard to put down. The author has brought together a vast amount of first hand sources including eye witnesses that make for a 'you are there' moment. I originally obtained a library copy to read, but half way through realized I wanted to own this book, so I bought it.

  • Well worth reading

To start off, I'm not a history buff. But this story is compelling especially when read looking at the dates with Churchill wanting the USA to join the war as England is being bombed, and realizing that that would not happen for a couple of years. Maybe Churchill was just lucky he did not get killed during all the bombing as the book notes, but we are all luckier that he did not get killed.
