Synopsis
"Entertaining, and in the best sense of the word, unsettling." THE WASHINGTON POST BOOK WORLD Fueled by a powerful curiosity--and by a need to see and feel and hear, firsthand and close-up--Michael Crichton's travels have carried him into worlds diverse and compelling. This is a record of those travels--an exhilarating quest across the familiar and exotic frontiers of the outer world, a determined odyssey into the unfathomable, spiritual depths of the inner world. It is an adventure of risk and rejuvenation, terror and wonder, as exciting as Michael Crichton's many masterful and widely heralded works of fiction.

  • Pick it up and read it- I believe your perspective on life will be the better for it!

Best book he has written (in my opinion & one of the best books I have read) and explains as a backdrop how he writes and the compelling nature and passionate style of his stories.

  • Entertaining and informative.

Michael Crichton was a great writer, and a man who truly lived. This sort of autobiography is just the thing if you want to get to know the man behind the books and movies.

  • Eighth copy to read over and over.

I bought this book (8th copy) because once again I loaned it to someone who didn't return. It is a wonderful exploration of a writer discovering his inner self.... through world travels then inner travels. Not the usual Michael Crichton story - just a journal in Michael Crichton style. I read it over and over.

  • The facts of Michael Crichton's life are just as interesting as his fiction!

Michael Crichton's Travels is less than a biography, but more like a series of anecdotes about his life and how it gave him a wealth of experience that he tried to put into his writing. From his days as a med student (he went on to write the show ER) to scuba diving (Sphere). Also included are accounts of his career as a director, working with Sean Connery (Great Train Robbery). A fascinating read, it feels like a series of stories he might have ready to share over a cold beer.
