About this product

    Product Information

Blending elements from the Dragon Warrior series of role-playing games with the monster-raising aspects of Nintendo's Pokémon franchise, Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 updates 2000's hit Game Boy Color title with a new storyline, setting, and characters. Players can now capture, raise, and breed over 300 types of monsters from the long-running series, including monsters from Dragon Warrior VII.

Taking the role of a boy named Cobi, players embark on a quest to save their island home of GreatLog from sinking into the ocean. The adventure will take them across many lands as they search for the keys needed to open magic portals. Each portal opens up a new environment populated with a variety of monsters, which randomly attack Cobi as he ventures forth across an overhead view of the land.

Battles are structured in the same manner as the original Dragon Warrior, where players and monsters take turns attacking until one side is defeated. Since Cobi is a trainer, he does not directly attack enemies. Instead up to three monsters battle for him according to a specific strategy set in the options screen. Once a monster is defeated, players can coax it into joining their team, which results in it tagging along behind Cobi as he explores the different worlds.

Monsters no longer part of the team will be sent home to Cobi's farm, where his sister will care for them until he returns. Players can also embark on a series of challenges against other trainers to earn higher rankings and special items. The simultaneous release of Tara's Adventure features an identical storyline with Cobi's sister in the lead, a different frequency of certain monsters, and keys to new areas (which can be traded using the Game Link cable).

    • Relive your childhood with a good classic.

I used to play this game when I was younger, I remember getting it for christmas one year as well as pokemon blue, I was in toys r us and I got to pick put 3 games, Pokemon Blue, Godzilla and Dragon Warriors. Dragon Warriors at the time to me felt more like an adult version of pokemon, so I felt cool playing it. Later in my life I see dragon quest with a much deeper and compelling story. The combat was challenging yet not impossible. It had a rewarding sense of accomplishment after defeating a boss and having them join your party with you. At times you will get very frustrated as to what you need to do, at the time this game was out, you simply figured out what to do by chance, or with a game guide, in todays time you can simply look up what to do next on youtube or google. I will enjoy ...

    • NOSTALGIA ALERT!!!!

I was about 10-12 when I first played this game. I am now almost 30 years old. This game brought back alot of fond memories of me ignoring my parents and them comically taking my Gameboy Color when I pissed them off.
