    Reinventing the wheel

    Having tried two old original idler wheels as replacements for the rather tired one on my re-plinthed GL75 with no improvements this modern offering seemed ideal. It arrived soon after ordering, well packaged and really nicely machined and finished. Once fitted, ( making sure the O-ring is seated nicely ) it took only a few seconds to realise just how noisy the original idlers were. Gone was the low-level, low down rumble and the deck seemed to gain more lower-octave detail. If you have spent money on souping-up a lovely old Lenco, putting it in a monster plinth, fitting a replacement tonearm and maybe even a main bearing upgrade, this idler wheel really should be added to the mix. A real bargain for the cost of the item. Grab one before they all go ( I did, I bought another ...

    Great product - but check the size of your spindle before ordering!

    It's very well made and comes with spare rings. The only problem was that the hole for the spindle was smaller than the spindle on my GL75. I was able to bore this out to a larger diameter (and it works) but it was not ideal. More should be made of the need to check the spindle diameter as there obviously must have been more than one produced by Goldring Lenco, my spindle was thicker than the one supplied (it's 3mm). It would seem that this product should be produced in more than one spindle size.
