    Seems to work, just not sure how accurate it is, my toyota dealership says my brake fluid needs changing quickly but this unit says everything is great. Could be the top fluid is okay since I had my brakes changed and they topped off and hwhat’s in the lines has moisture. Will change just in case when they send me a coupon.

    Some calibration needed

    For the money, this tester is a good deal. It does require a little calibration, though. Mix up a small amount of new brake fluid with 2% water using a graduated eye dropper. Dip the tester into the solution and see just how deep the probes need to go to register 2% and no more. Tape off the probes with electrical tape at the appropriate depth. I found 3mm enough to correctly register the 2% mixture. More than that resulted in an over-estimate of the water content.

    I'm giving this item a qualified endorsement. I had a long back and forth email conversation with the vendor I purchased this from. He was very cooperative and the conversation is quite extensive so I'll just go ahead and include my final takeaway from working with the tester. Bottom line: > These testers are very inexpensive and that's possibly a point that should not be forgotten. > Quality control appears to be a problem, as I encountered on the second tester being unusable with the battery cover in place. > Reliability of readings as seen in these tests appears to be potentially questionable depending on the brand of brake fluid used as the manufacturer claims certain brands can result in inaccurate readings.

    Slightly of poor quality, but can be use for indication only.

    The product is working eratically, and the battery cap is not closing when I put a battery inside . Still I wonder if I could use it for as indicative only.

    Sometimes testers work, and sometimes they don’t

    I thought I would test my brake fluid, so I purchased this item thinking that it would work, but it gave me bad readings on brand new brake fluid in a bottle and then when I looked it up online, they say that there isn’t very many low priced accurate products for this type of testing.

    Double Check Your Dealership

    My wife and I had the typical experience at a car dealership when having a service done on each of our vehicles (on the same day). They both needed a cabin filter (I'd just replaced them) and a recommendation to flush our brake fluid due to a 3% moisture content. I had them tested at a trusted auto repair shop and they tested good. I bought this because it was inexpensive and it gave me the same reading as the repair shop.
