Cotton Malone is once again thrown into the midst of fast-paced international threats. Synopsis
Steve Berry's New York Times bestseller, The Patriot Threat , finds Cotton Malone racing to stop a rogue ex-KGB agent plotting revenge against the United States. The history of America's income-tax law can be found in the 16th Amendment to the Constitution. But someone has unearthed a secret that calls that law into question. Now it's up to Cotton Malone to learn the truth. . . Once a member of an elite intelligence division within the Justice Department, Malone is now a retired bookshop owner in Denmark. But when his former boss, Stephanie Nelle, asks him to track a rogue North Korean who may have acquired some top secret Treasury Department files-the kind that could bring the United States to its knees-Malone is vaulted into a harrowing twenty-four-hour chase that begins on the canals in Venice and ends in the remote highlands of Croatia. "Loaded with action, character sketches, [and] fascinating history...along the lines of The Da Vinci Code ." - Pittsburgh Post-Gazette With appearances by Franklin Roosevelt, Andrew Mellon, a curious painting that still hangs in the National Gallery of Art, and some eye-opening revelations about the dollar bill, Malone's high-stakes investigation will ultimately beg the question: What if the federal income tax is illegal? Now it's up to him to find the answer-at all costs. • Realistic fiction base on historical facts

Great author; I'm familiar with his previous books. Just so happens theme surrounds original legality of income taxi on U.S. citizens, when it is income tax month this year (April 2016). That added interest to my reading The Patriot Threat. The theme is real about how legal the original income tax was approved or not in states that existed after Revolution. It's presentation is actual factual. Steve Berry's writing style, which I like, is very similar to two authors I read: Nelson DeMille and Greg Isles. If you like those authors, you'll like this book. The greatest part is when you finish reading the book there is a section that Steve Berry presented telling the reader what is fact and what he was at liberty to fictionalize (author's license).

    • Good Read!

Great read. Steve Berry weaves historical facts into a story that is entertaining as well as plausible. Of course the hero is almost super-human but there are people out there somewhat like that. All in all, an entertaining book.

    • Typical Steve Berry greatness

As usual, Steve Berry combines fact and fiction to keep you on the edge of your seat. His books don't have to be read in order but I recommend it because of the developing characters and their relationships to each other. He is up there with Dan Brown and David Baldacci.
