      Whirlpool Cabrio repaired

      this seems to be a very common issue on these machines. The repair didn't take long. 1st time and figuring out how to do everything took 45 minutes and that included cleaning. there was no need for the special tools. I think most homeowners that do repairs around the house and or work on their own cars would have everything they need. you may need to buy a threaded rod to press in the bearings. removing the shaft nut just takes an adjustable wrench. a pair of locking pliers to hold the shaft. 1-1/2" pvc pipe to push in the new seal

      Shaft undersize not allowing tight fit of bearings

      The shaft was .006 in. underside at the bearing race compared to the old shaft, letting the shaft move within the bearing race. I cleaned up the old shaft and reused it to get the washer going again. I chose not to risk using the new shaft and getting vibration from the loose fit. The bearings and seal seem to be of good quality as the washer is operating properly.

      The parts seamed to be of good quality at a good price

      When I looked for the parts needed to fix my washer I was finding them at around $100 at other places. I got it here so much cheaper. Everything was of good quality. I received the parts faster than expected also. Now the job itself was a bit more difficult than I thought but I did fix my problem. The only fault I have is the kit didn’t come with any grease for the gasket and didn’t come with the adhesive sealant that binds the main seal to the tub. So having to purchase this for about $6 still better because I saved $60 by getting it here.

      Bearing kit

      Came with no instructions but if you go to You tube it's easy to watch and easy to install. Took me appx. 45 minutes to complete. The only thing that was defective was the glue to seal in the rubber seal under the tub but all else was OK. I made my own bearing seal compress by using a threaded rod with two nuts and washers on each end to press in the bearings.

      Good except for one thing

      The seal wear sleeve is not stainless steel like the original, it is made of plated carbon steel which will rust and cause the seal to leak in short order. Need to reuse the old wear sleeve off the original shaft if you can.
