Praise for Robin Hobb and Assassin's Apprentice   "Fantasy as it ought to be written . . . Robin Hobb's books are diamonds in a sea of zircons." --George R. R. Synopsis
"Fantasy as it ought to be written . . . Robin Hobb's books are diamonds in a sea of zircons."--George R. R. Martin Young Fitz is the bastard son of the noble Prince Chivalry, raised in the shadow of the royal court by his father's gruff stableman. He is treated as an outcast by all the royalty except the devious King Shrewd, who has him secretly tutored in the arts of the assassin. For in Fitz's blood runs the magic Skill--and the darker knowledge of a child raised with the stable hounds and rejected by his family. As barbarous raiders ravage the coasts, Fitz is growing to manhood. Soon he will face his first dangerous, soul-shattering mission. And though some regard him as a threat to the throne, he may just be the key to the survival of the kingdom. Praise for Robin Hobb and Assassin's Apprentice "A gleaming debut in the crowded field of epic fantasies . . . a delightful take on the powers and politics behind the throne." -- Publishers Weekly "This is the kind of book you fall into, and start reading slower as you get to the end, because you don't want it to be over." --Steven Brust

This item arrived in wonderful condition, I would even say in "Very good" condition (not just "GOOD" as the listing said). It came quickly and packaged nicely. The seller additionally was very understanding about an issue I had with another item and communicated wonderfully. I would definitely recommend purchasing from this seller and I will repurchase from them in the future :)

  • Fantasy must read

I can’t say enough about HOBB’s writing, world building, & character building is excellent. I’ve loved everyone of her series with the exception of the soldier series. I just couldn’t get into it. I’ve re read all the other series several times- you pick up more detail. all series are in same world and can be read as Stand a lone though Your understanding goes more in depth as you read each series.

  • Is this character good or bad? Read to find out.

Robin Hobb brings the worlds and peoples she writes about to life. Her characters are well drawn. She brings you into fantastic adventures and makes them real. You are eager to read the rest of the story in the next books.

  • EPIC

This is the beginning of an epic tale. This book is part of a trilogy known as The Farseer Trilogy, followed by The Liveship Traders Trilogy, then The Tawny Man Trilogy, a series of four books called The Rain Wild Chronicles comes next, culminating in a final trilogy - Fitz and the Fool. It's a long journey, but so worth it. I have not read any fantasy that equals it.
