Magic thing!
I'm not a scientist, so I don't know how true those things they write about this alarm. But what I can say from my experience - waking up was never so easy as it was for me and my wife for last two weeks, when we got this sunrise alarm! The main goal - waking you up gently - is achieved for 100%. Maybe it's personal thing, but it works for me great. Will see, how will it work over the winter... So far I easily waking up at 6:30am 16 days in a row, even over the weekend And as to the design, it's perfect - very easy to operate, I will never need a manual. Two different alarms, if you and your spouse have different schedule, very nice melodies. I'm very excited about this alarm! Interesting concept, but not sure it's for everybody.
The concept is good but there are some flaws if you plan on using it as your daily alarm. First of all, this lamp lacks many features you can find in much cheaper products. There is no back-up battery. You can't schedule alarms for weekdays only. You can't connect an external audio source to it. The various buttons and controls are placed on top and on each side of the lamp making it a bit difficult to figure out. It's not very intuitive and I have found it a bit frustrating to use. It is a good quality product that is nicely put together. It gives you the feeling it will last a while. Buy this lamp primarily for the "sunset/sunrise" effect otherwise you may be disappointed. I can see this as being very useful to some folks and a complete waste of money to others. I am not entirely sold on the concept but willing to give it more time. I don't mind waking up to the light, however I am a really sound sleeper and it has failed to wake me up on a couple of occasions. At least there is an audio alarm option with nature sounds, and my dog always wakes up as soon as the light comes on. My smartphone did a better job as an alarm clock but I was looking for something to help me sleep better so that's why I am willing to put up with its shortcomings. Your mileage may vary...

This thing really works
I have had issues with acting out my dreams, thrashing around, and tearing up the bed etc. I had learned to live with it but this lamp put an end to all that the very first night and I haven't had an incident since! I still can hardly believe it. I don't know what it is that put an end to my condition but I have to credit this lamp for it. I use the sunset feature to fall asleep and it knocks me out every time. Even my dog konks out watching it. I feel more calm and better rested and I usually sleep right through the night without moving around much at all. I would have to call it a miracle cure for me. It isn't cheap but I would say it's worth every penny. It's simple to adjust and set up and it is just a very appealing light, and watching it lighten to daylight or fade to dusk is very ... Good balance of features and value
This is the middle model of Phillips Wake-up lights, and I'm happy with it. Beautiful range of light color and intensity. I enjoy the mix of tactile and 'soft' buttons. The controls are fairly easy to learn. The recorded sounds are gentle, but repetitive, which makes them good for waking up to.

Best way to wake up!
Like a lot of people, I need to sleep in a dark room. To wake up, I normally use my mobile phone alarm (loud and annoying) or my Samsung Gear Fit (which buzzes on my wrist). The wrist buzzer is the least intrusive, but it still shocks me into awakening and I often don't feel fully rested as a result. Enter the Philips Wake-Up Light (HF3520/60). I've only used it for a couple of weeks now but it makes a world of difference! It's the middle of winter where I live at the moment and it's still quite dark at the time I have to get up. Rather than being woken up with a jolt, I am pleasantly roused from my sleep by a warm light. I often wake up before the alarm sound begins (the alarm sound can be switched on or off and is not a fixed setting). If the alarm sound goes off while I am still ... The only issue is that they're not available in Australia (as far as I could see) so I had to order mine from the US. In any case, eBay made that process easy. Search for philips wake up light hf3520 on youtube for a good example of how this works. Note - you can adjust the 'ramp-up' time of the sunrise simulation as well. The default is half an hour.
