    The Brokenwood Mysteries, Series 1

    We were looking for a mystery series like Midsomer Murders. The Brokenwood Series has what we were looking for engaging characters, good plots, humor (not too dark) and wonderful scenery. All in all a good series. The only downside was getting used to the accents.

    These mysteries follow a formula. The main two detective characters are interesting and the best part of the series. But the stories are not that interesting especially because they are formulaic and contrived.
