The colors and patterning are a nice slate blue or periwinkle color with flesh having a range of purple tones. Lighting also plays a big role in how they appear. I was worried about possible DOA with how retracted into their shells they were upon arrival, but I followed the instructions given in the package and all of them slowly came to life. One shell was slightly damaged, but otherwise they all appear very healthy.
