SO, don’t loose that small plate, because it’s required for the safety button ( both original Mossberg button and these safety buttons). These are very well made, high quality all aluminum safety buttons for Mossberg model shotguns. I think the wider model safety button here is designed for easier operation when a scope is mounted & the scope
