Used to make a pair of aluminum oars with inside diameter=1.5" positively buoyant so they will float if they fall out of the row boat. I found that two 30" L x 1.5" D tubes of closed cell foam fit in the oars and was enough to float a 5 lb weight - each oar weighed 4.2 lbs, so that was sufficient.
