However, this was surprising as the item was carefully and completely wrapped in bubble wrap with other protective layers in the box. It is baffling, really. The seller responded to my message promptly and partially refunded the item. I would order from this seller again as the communication, timeliness, and care were all stellar. This was just an unfortunate tragedy

The seller kindly offered to refund my money and pay for return shipping, but I opted to keep it. It’s a wonderful original painting, which I cherish, so I immediately took it to be reframed. Fortunately, there was no damage to the painting.
