N, the ID thread was bad too n it couldn't screw in all the way to meet the bbl ring. I receive a brand new one and it fits nicely on my old original 1983 made Remington. Bc it dosnt have tiny dimple craters on the base edge ring, the cap wont mate squarely 2 the bbl ring. But i can file slats radialwise at the cap's base edge to get the detente ball in. Don't buy GrovTec GTSW297, it wont fit, maker wont help either
