Good looking, reasonably priced metal pistol with blowback
Great looking metal gun, fairly accurate, I got a great buy for this pistol on eBay. My only problem was the knob used to seat the CO2 cartridge. I was unable to get it tight enough with my hand, so used a screwdriver which worked for a few times but the knob ended up twisting off, making the gun unusable. Hopefully this situation can be avoided by applying a lubricant to the threads and making sure the knob turns easily without resistance. I’m getting the gun replaced because I really liked it except for this unfortunate situation, which I hope to avoid with my replacement.Great looking metal gun, fairly accurate, I got a great buy for this pistol on eBay. Hefty smooth action blow-back semi auto pistol. Works flawlessly but not at first. Co2 tank would not seal properly. Be sure to oil thumb screw threads generously and turn thumb screw in and out several times to lubricate all threads (more is better) Hold gun vertical (thumb screw on top) insert Co2 tank then turn thumb screw knob down tight - should go a lot easier to get snug fit by hand now! Co2 tanks should not leak down now - I also bought extra "Magazines" because they are plastic, the only plastic moving part in the gun. It has but one flaw
The screw to seat the CO2 cylinder must have been installed by gorillas. The only way to loosen it was to wrap the screw head with a rag and use channel locks to break it free. Still it a lot of resistance so I had to unscrew it enough to expose the threads to give them a good dose of WD40. After that the screw turned easily. I, unfortunately, had unscrewed it too far and the CO2 seat hardware disassembled and would not rethread. So much for this one so I returned it and bought another. Once I properly broke the CO2 seat loose and could finally fire it I was impressed with just how accurate it was given that BB guns don't have rifled barrels. The trigger pull was as I expected. Long and fairly resistant. I say "expected" as I have yet to fire a semi-auto BB gun that wasn't. One really ... The screw to seat the CO2 cylinder must have been installed by gorillas. Daisy Powerline 5501 is worth it's beans! Get you one.
I have had three of these 5501 Powerline Daisy blowback pistols now. First one had to be replaced by Daisy. They did so with zero problems and worked with me to make it right. One of the things I very much enjoy about these 5501s is that the co2 cartridge resides in the pistol grip rather in the drop mag. Thus you can shoot the entire cartridge empty before having to replace the cartridge. I own 7 mags which is what it has been taking to use up a cartridge. That's more rounds per cartridge than any of my other brands. I'm getting 130 bbs per cartridge compared to 55 to 65 with my Sig-Sauers, Colts, Barettas and other brands I have.I have had three of these 5501 Powerline Daisy blowback pistols now.
