The platen under the moving belt is not in contact with the sanding belt like in a full size belt sander. So you can't use it to flat sand. Also there are two motor options. The seller explanation that the difference is they get motors from different suppliers is wrong. The 895 motor is bigger than the 795 motor. Google 895 motor compared to 795 motor.
