    Thank you for the nice review and I'm thrilled you're trying to get familiar with flint and steel. For practice make sure you can make a spark, your set did for me, your nest does not need to be large, & if using jute like the material I sent you.Use 1/2 pc. of char cloth on top of the flint and place approx. 1/16" away from the sharp edge of the flint. If questions I am here for you!
