    I had a Dell Latitude 7490 as my work computer for a couple of years and really liked it. This review combines impressions of the machine I just received with extended experience with the one I had at work. It's a very quick, capable and solidly constructed unit with great battery life. The only trouble I had with my work computer was the optional touch screen malfunctioned and had to be disabled. This unit has no touch screen, so that is not an issue. Being already familiar with this model, I was pleased to find it at a good price. I knew exactly what I was getting and knew it would meet my needs. The fact that it is running Linux Mint instead of Windows is a plus, because most Linux distributions lack the inherent bloat of Windows, which translates into even better performance. Linux ...

    getting used to it....final setup tomorrow, i hope.

    have been away from windows, using Linux past five years or so. and win 7 offline [a great acer i refused to upgrade, so i went with Linux, til now, i use it for movie maker, dvd maker, etc. other music production stuff]. there's a learning curve i'm having a bit of trouble with, and certain drivers i need. but i know i'll get it, just not as user friendly as i'd like, and while looking for virus protection the reviews say win 11 bloated, but that's how windows is. i need it for a special musical instrument application/function. that's ALL i'm gonna use it for. one program: Gforce Mtronpro. has to be mac/windows. offline. uneasy with it having no malware protection til i get it on line. probably too late now anyway. had both my laptops going watching tutorials. but they're all new ...

    Right out of the box it worked nicely. The Ubuntu o/s needed some work arounds to get to recognize my hard drive arrays and perform some functions, but the online forums helped sort all that out. The laptop is fast, connects to networks well. Still working to put it through some hard paces but overall I'm pretty happy with this laptop. Thanks.
