Synopsis
This volume is an expanded edition of JRPRingier's popular 2006 reference monograph on Philadelphia-based artist Karen Kilimnik (born 1955). In the 1980s Kilimnik's jumbled narrative installations were compared by critics to the "scatter art" of the previous decade, but have become a cult for a younger generation of artists and exhibition curators. Her drawings and paintings from the beginning of the 1990s were included in the then-current discussions on art and glamour, and on the emergence of women artists whose sensibility was not driven by feminist theory. The source of numerous misunderstandings, the diversity of her work has veiled the internal coherence of a practice which increasingly attests to the continuous links between all these mediums. This book offers the complete panorama of Kilimnik's production and affords a view that goes beyond the distinctions between painting, drawing or installation., This is the first reference monograph devoted to the American artist who lives and works in Philadelphia. In the 1980s her narrative and jumbled installations were compared by the critics to the 'scatter art' of the previous decade, but have become cult for a younger generation of artists and exhibition curators. Her drawings and paintings from the beginning of the 1990s were included in the then current discussions on art and glamour, and on the emergence of women artists whose sensibility was not that of feminist theory. The source of numerous misunderstandings, the diversity of her work has veiled the internal coherence of a practice of which the most recent pieces attest to the continuous links between all these mediums. This book offers the complete panorama of Kilimnik's production and allows a vision that goes beyond the distinctions between painting, drawing, or installation.New and expanded edition., This volume is an expanded edition of JRP-Ringier's popular 2006 reference monograph on Philadelphia-based artist Karen Kilimnik (born 1955). I'm VERY pleased with this book! It's exactly as described, and I can't wait to read it! The quality of the packaging was great, so there were no issues with the book being damaged in shipment. Definitely worth the price I paid, which was very fair! I'm looking forward to doing business with this sellar in the future!

Picture on eBay does not match the copy received. Picture is of the $9.99 dollar copy with same Barcode, book received is the $10.99 dollar copy with brown horse. Picture shown is different than cover of this coloring book received, as 1/2 of all Sellers show copy with tan horse and other Sellers show the copy with the brown horse. I am, still happy with Seller for their great ordering, packaging and shipping of book.
