The single humbucking pickup (bridge position) is nice and hot and throaty, and the Tone control works very well, so when you back it down by about one-third you get a tone that's more like a neck pickup, so you're not always locked into a bridge-position sound. I like that versatility, and I'm impressed at how effectively the Tone control functions on this guitar. What a nice value!

I wouldn't buy this guitar as a beginner looking to learn haw to play, but it's perfect for a beginner who's learning how to mod. For the price point I have no regrets.
