Now this isn't a comment. I'm in la and was in a canvas 8 man tent Bell tent. It most definitely works and is really quieter than a windows unit.

Unit works very well to cool a small room. I did vent the condenser side with the enclosed hoses which also worked well. Wish they sold an optional window vent kit. I also wish the included drain hose was longer. Works great so far.
