The second entry in the Pokémon Ranger series, Shadows of Almia once again finds gamers offering help to people, Pokémon, and nature as they work their way up to the rank of Top Ranger. As always, much of the gameplay is derived from capturing Pokémon creatures by using the stylus to encircle them, and then taking advantage of their unique abilities to complete quests. The various quests entail activities such as dousing forest fires, rescuing stranded people, and delivering packages, and successfully completed missions earn players power-ups and rank advancements. Gamers can only make use of a captured Pokémon's skill once, using the "Poké Assist" for help with capturing another creature, or the "Field Move" for help with environmental challenges. However, there are hundreds of permanent sidekick "Partner Pokémon" from which to choose, including creatures from Pokémon: Diamond and Pokémon: Pearl.

    Packaging could do with some improvement and the slab wasn’t sleeved, but the price was so fair I can’t complain. International postage was incredibly quick. The product matches the images though unfortunately the slab has many significant scratches which can’t be seen in said images. The description also claims “brand new” yet the scratches and PSA cert suggest otherwise. These are minor things to some but they do lesser my pleasure, regardless I’m happy, thank you!

    Big Step Up From The Original.

    Major improvement over the initial installment. Capturing now works with a progress bar instead of how many consecutive loops a pokemon requires. This makes for more interesting captures. Different environments, and a longer story, make this game much more enjoyable than the first.

    Best Pokémon game I’ve seen on writing alone

    The writing for the game is the best part, the voice lines are great, the fighting and capturing mechanic is unique, the story is consistent. Overall a 10/10 game
