      Lightweight with great features.

      This was the perfect size to use in my kitchen, and I love being able to open the top with the foot "pedal" rather than manually lifting the top. The plastic kitchen bags I use fit into it perfectly and are easy to remove. I love the fact that my garbage loving chihuahua cannot push it over to get inside, although the container is not that heavy and can easily be moved to where it is wanted. My only drawback was that for me it was a wee bit difficult to get the lid onto the top and get its lifting mechanism working correctly. Not something that needs instructions, just that I didn't have the strength and had to have someone a bit stronger to put it on. This trash can works better than expected, and I would not hesitate to buy another one if I ever need one. It is well worth the ...

      Sturdy but bulky

      It’s sturdy, but I had to leave it outside for a couple of weeks to get rid of plastic smell, which I found odd since it was certainly in a factory and then maybe a ship or train, then warehouse, then Home Depot box. I was used to a slimline model with side step, but couldn’t find that model and Wirecutter had recommended this model. It feels a bit bulky in the kitchen and all the thought was put in function and none in form, so to speak.

      Rubbermaid has a new customer.

      Its a step-up from the13 gal. it replaces. The plastic feels more rigid and the step-to-open feature works flawlessly. I certainly recommend it.

      A little too light.

      We like the Rubbermaid trash can but found out that it has some drawbacks, which I addressed in my way. When empty, or near empty it will slide around or even tip when using foot pedal. My fix was to stand it on a non slip rubber mat. The bottom is smooth and should have been made with some build in rubber feet. Also I added two weights, (installed inside bottom of trash bin), one on the right bottom and one on the left bottom, to add weight and stability when using the foot pedal. Adding the weight makes it function much better. (Total weight is around 9-10 pounds.
