It should be straight and level. The 2 guitars I have bought were not straight and definitely not level. Notes would just die when bent. These guitar came with action about 1/4" high. For those of you who know what the action in on a guitar, this is terrible. The (very) sharp fret ends were sticking out past the neck, cutting your hand as you played. For $60 it's tough to complain.
