    Great Value for so Much Capability

    I have now owned three of these, with more features in each version. I know of no other product that provides so much capability. For me, these units do for video systems what the original stereo receivers did for audio. It is now hard for me to imagine integrating my video sources together with my sound system without one of these. That said, I would like to see a longer life span, which is the only reason I hold off giving it five stars. Four years is about as long as I have been able to use one before it has failed, and getting one of these serviced is not a realistic option, in my experience. (Easier and probably less expensive to replace.)

    Bitter/sweet review.

    Having owned several Digital recorders most seem to be made cheap almost toy-like. This recorder is a serious well-designed unit good user interface that good while it lasts.But the level of quality seems to wane over the years with use. Which is to be expected with any product. Because it works so well the hope is to have its quality level continue. The cost balanced against the waning of quality cmoes out about right. Finale honest assessment, its a good product.

    Two Steps Forward One Step backward

    Product is excellent. We really like it. Just one feature we didn't quite expect. In Time shift mode when you press forward to advance 20 sec. sometimes it goes backwards about 2 or 3 minutes, so we have to go forward again. I'm sure it is just a misinterpretation of the infrared signal from the remote and will be fixed in subsequent releases of firmware. Over all it is a great product. Thank you, and look forward to firmware upgrades.
