The Ideal 33-864 cable tester allows you to identify and trace specific signal carrying wires in voice and data applications. This tone generator lets you apply a tone signal to a wire pair or single conductor; following this, by using this amplifier probe kit, you can run a trace on that wire. The Ideal 33-864 thus enables you to identify a wire within a bundle at a remote end or at a cross connect. This Ideal tone generator also comes with an F-connector port for toning and tracing of coaxial CATV cabling systems. Moreover, this Ideal amplifier probe kit features a volume control.

    IDEAL 33-864 tone generator and amplifier probe kit

    Using other brands, the tone generator is week (even on the high level), and if there is live phone line on the pair (or network), you can hardly hear anything on the amplified probe. I use it with another IDEAL unit that check the line, and can tone on live lines. This probe fit that unit. The Probe is ok, it does have a good tip.

    Ideal Industries 33-864 tops them all

    This tone generator and inductive amplifier kit is the best one ever offered by I deal Industries. They just keep getting better. Visually its two tone Grey / black color scheme is very smart and modern. Operation is smooth and straightforward and it JUST WORKS. Does everything it claims to and a bit more. Changing the battery of the tone generator is a little different but once you have worked out how it opens its very slick. The tone amplifier probe is solid,very positive and a crisp clear tone with quite a high level of volume. It would benefit from a headset jack and a quick change tip, both of which it lacks unfortunately. This has to be one the best tone and probe kit ever offered by Ideal and personally speaking it beats all the other offerings hands down.
