        Great image quality off air and recorded, hard to use

        I cut the cord and just get about 15 off air channels. A few programs come on when I cannot watch them so I wanted a recorder. HD based ones are expensive and VCR's keep dying after 1-1.5 years so I gave this a try. The menu is dumb but once you figure it out the quality of the off air watching and recording is very good. My car shows are on Fox which broadcasts at 720p. For each 30 minute episode the recording was 2.7Gb per 30 minutes. I have a 40GB 5400 rpm drive attached and it played and fast forwarded thru the commercials without a hitch. For some reason it didn't see my flash drive attached so I had to use an old laptop drive instead.         Works but at a basic level.

        When changing channels the delay is long. On enabling captions it has too many options that are not necessary. The printout on screen in many cases should be one line vice two lines. The instructions should explain the red light function on the display. The EPG only shows the present program on channels but nothing on upcoming programs.

        I would of gave it five stars, but until ViewTv can offer a better quality remote, its four stars

        the at263 offers a directional button interface on the box that gives you manual control of more complex menu options that were not available before. My biggest complaint with ViewTv, is the remote, I really wish they would offer a better quality remote, I guarantee people, would not mind paying more for it. and even more important, how about offering some codes that could be used in universal remotes instead of having to use a learning remote to identify each individual key function. If ViewTv could offer a better quality remote or codes to program universal remotes, I would give them five stars.

        It works for OTA digital TV with plain antenna in my basement apartment.

        This is just a digital broadcast tuner for older TVs. It works fine with my cheap Amazon flat in the window antenna. I have two older than 2009 TVs so needed tuner to get digital OTA signals. It works. I have tried the DVR function with a 32GB usb thumb drive, it works but pretty tricky to set up. The manual is almost useless LOL. A lot of just try and learn. But this model was MOST recommended of all.

        Terrible Unit!

        This converter is a joke! It is NOT very user friendly and is a horrible tuner! A cheap old Insignia unit, still available at less than half the price, outperforms it by a long shot when it comes to the basics of tuning and audio video syncing. The audio and video syncing is absolutely disasterous and makes watching people speak extremely disgusting! The sync time varies from time to time and channel to channel, and is NEVER right! Yet, the cheap Insignia hooked to any system I have provides perfectly synced audio and video, as does every other converter I have ever encountered. Everything is hooked to the same great antenna system so there is no doubt that the lag is the fault of this terrible unit. Switching and tuning channels takes forever - certainly a very long way from the instant ...
