The larger wouldn't fit so I then needed to modify the smaller by opening the hole. I used a drill for this and broke two of them. Then I used a mini file (gentler tool) and was successful. Because the resulting grandfather clock pendulum length was different due to the slight mismatch I needed to re-regulate the clock, but we got 'er done!
