    The Air Vent Gable Ventilator 53315 will replace the current one (exact same model), still operating, once it fails. This is the third one of the model 53315 I've purchased. The first one ran for 8 summers, before failure, and was replaced by the second one - now still operating. I believe it's key to: make sure the blades are well balanced and not rubbing anything; make sure it's vertical, which may help the bearings run smoother; and lastly use rubber grommets to lessen vibration.

    Fan

    Practical and I feel a necessary actic exaust fan to mitigate some of the excess buildup of heat. Have installed 2 of these recently in a single story 4100 sq foot house (tile roof), resonably quite operation . Bought this house new 16 years ago and believed that it was time to deal with some of the heat buildup. I live in Sacramento, Ca where the summer months can be pretty hot and 100 degree heat is not uncommon. With that outside temperature you can imagine the actic temperature. Believe that I will buy a remote temperature monitor to install in the actic just to follow the variations .

    Works well, but....

    Haven't had it long but so far it works well, but the fan blades are made of cheap sheet metal and straight out of the well protected box, I had to bend the blades to keep them from hitting the matching louver. One has to wonder if they will stand the test of time. Cast blades probably cost more and must be balanced as well, so that is why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.
