They are loose in the slots but if you use the supplied silicone it will make them solid in place. I did not use silicone, I wrapped the weights in blue plumber tape and they fit snugly. I did have to push them into place but can be easily removed if needed. I did notice a little bit of dampened recoil, but I also run a comped slide so I can't really tell. They add weight so I think it shoots flatter but that could just be in my mind.
