Over-clocks easy, is stable, and still performs well in modern titles.

I bought it to upgrade from a i5-2500k that I had overclocked to 4.7GHz with easy. Unfortunately this chip doesn't really like going above 4.5GHz without more voltage. I am still very happy with it for the price I paid and the added logical cores due to Hyper Threading out weigh the loss of 200MHz per core.

  • A good and economical CPU

In today's world, engineering Plans for highways, signal systems etc are superimposed over Google Earth KMZ files. It give a better perspective of a project location and scope, but the KMZ files end up with a lot of saved information and they can end up loading at glacial speeds. My older LGA 775 system, built up on a Gigabyte DDR3 mobo and a QX6850 and OC'd to 3.2GHz required 62 seconds to load one particularly large KMZ file. My I5 system at the office takes about 40 seconds. I think it's an I5-4460. This CPU, in a Gigabyte GA-P67a-UD3 mobo takes 21 seconds from the moment I double-click on the file until the last of the many icons loads. Granted, I'm using a 2GB video card with this board, but I used the exact same card (nVidia) with the LGA775 system and it didn't decrease the load ...

  • Great Value

I tend to hold out on upgrades until I need to, rather than going overboard and spending money on performance I don't yet need. I personally upgraded from 2500k to the 2600k and I can definitely notice a difference in games where I had lower frames. Far Cry 4 and primal went from being able to play high setting to max setting on 1080p with a gtx 1060 6gb. I also noticed some gains in Planet coaster which was the real reason I wanted to upgrade (very cpu heavy game). I kept my expectations low, not everything got a huge boost in performance but for the most part almost all my games got just a little bit more smoother which was noticeable. If I hadn't seen any gains in the games I wanted after upgrading, I was going to head on the path of a new 6700k but I can honestly say that this little ...

  • Great product from Intel

Even though this is a 2nd gen core i7, it still has plenty of age left! runs all modern triple A titles with ease, when paired with something like a GTX 1080 ti!

  • I have this for older operating systems ...

I have this for older operating systems that are window XP and Vista that go up to intel chipsets, Q and Z 77. With the multhreading is really speeds up manually installling legacy updates and software.
