    Purchased to replace cross links on skidster tire chains. Glad I went with longer handle pliers for my 3/8 diameter hooks. 5/16 diameter chain the mid size pliers would probably be a better choice as they would be easier to handle while bending hooks closed. Tool doesn't cut chain links. Only opens and Squeezes hook ends. See pictures...hope this helps

    Tool works as expected. I am using it to repair farm tractor tire chain cross chains with them still mounted on the tire. When repairing chains while still mounted on the tire, the combination spreading/closing head makes it more difficult to position the jaws when closing the cross chain-to-side chain links.

    Very heavy duty

    Excellent quality and heavy duty tool. Had done tractor chains that needed to be shortened and these giant pliers made the job much easier. Wish I had bought these 20 years ago.
