Notes
Two CD edition contains 38 highlights from these legendary sessions by Bob Dylan and the Band. Compiled from meticulously restored original tapes many found only recently, this historic set is the definitive chronicle of the artist's legendary 1967 recording sessions with members of his touring ensemble who would later achieve their own fame as the Band. The actual recordings, however, remained commercially unavailable until 1975, when Columbia Records released a scant 16 of them on THE BASEMENT TAPES album. Over the years, the songs on THE BASEMENT TAPES have haunted and perplexed fans, with the recordings themselves representing a Holy Grail for Dylanologists. THE BASEMENT TAPES RAW brings together, for the first time ever, the best of of the salvageable recordings from the tapes including recently discovered early gems recorded in the 'Red Room' of Dylan's home in upstate New York. Unlike the official 1975 release, these performances are presented as close as possible to the way they were originally recorded and sounded back in the summer of 1967.

  • I'm extremely happy with quality and quick delivery

As a Dylan fan having this new raw basement tapes added to my already fine collection of the Band's and Dylan's period together is great. Great quality sound and some new material that I do not have is wonderful. For anyone who is familiar with and enjoys any new addition from the The Big Pink needs to buy this, no kidding.

  • Fantastic!

This is so wonderful, the sound is really good, Bob is in great voice and so relaxed, he's singing, not shouting the lyrics, and this time without any overdubs or alterations, just the original restored versions, alternate takes and unreleased. The version of Blowing in the Wind is something else. This is one album/cd I can't seem to stop listening to.

  • In the basement no more

A great complement to the official Basement Tapes release. The music still retains its odd mystery and power and likely always will

  • Can't go wrong!

Two of my favorites together. Bob and the Band. Doesn't get much better than that.
