Great little receiver for its price

This is a nice compact receiver, the price is just about right since there are sacrifices to be made. 1) Only produces 100 watts per channel which in a home setting is ample enough but would have preferred abit more. 2)Does not have an upscaling feature. Which is totally fine but doesn't do it justice in the future-proofing aspect. 3)Does not support 4K @ 60fps, though it does say it supports 4K @ 30fps but I haven't verified that.. 4) Bluetooth connection is abit fidly and takes abit of getting used to. When its all said and done its a nice starter/budget receiver. To get more you'll have to spend more.

        BEWARE!!

Disappointed in this HK product. Advertised as 4K capable - NOT!!! No speaker config (on front panel - an HK feature I loved) not there. Totally disappointed. Looking to sell ASAP (no return on listing). Hope to find another HK receiver w/better options in the near future.

      • HK1710s is a great value and sounds great too!

Very easy to setup. Its light and doesnt generate as musch heat as my 1990 HK it is replacing. Sound is crisp and clean. Bass through a sub is ultra deep and clear and pushes my Cerwin 20" well. I like that each speaker can be adjusted for your setup. It lacks output for overhead sound but that's not something most would use anyway. The on TV screen menu system looks old school DOS but all the needed functionality. Overall I Luv it! Biggest grip.... It looks cheap compared to my old HK AVR's. The volume button used to look really cool 3D and blue. They now are flat and with a boring white outline. The facial is all cheap plastic with no chrome or stainless accents. I'm keeping the old HK for another room. You can't kill them and they sound great. I use this with a Logitech ...

      • Sounds great!!!

(Don't waste your money If anyone wants it I will sell to you half off Contact me ) that was my earlier review, but after I moved the receiver to the basement, the sound seam a lots better. So I'm assuming is my room up stairs with hardwood flooring is not acoustic, causing sound to not please to my liking. I'm very happy with it now in my home theater room.👍🏻😂

      • No matter how low the price...the product must actually work.

I've owned Harmon Kardon products for decades. My previous HK receiver was a AVR 254, which after I'd owned it a couple years stopped working and required a software update which was written in Windows 95 and therefore not upgradeable. The creature of habit that I am, I decided to give HK another chance and purchased a AVR1710s, which looks nice but is mostly plastic and made in communist Vietnam. I had problems from the start, as the handheld device wouldn't turn the receiver on/off and I used my old HK AVR 254 handheld. I couldn't get the 1710s receiver to recognize my TV input HMDI cable. So I called the Comcast and changed the input box that I had installed less than a year ago to another model. Then the sound changed significantly depending on whether the TV was broadcasting a ...
