This is to be expected, they don't last indefinitely and I keep spare bulbs on hand. The problem was that after replacing the bulb, somehow water (a very small amount) got in and the socket quit working. I could not find a replacement socket, so I order another one. So a word to the wise - be SURE when it comes time to replace the bulb you positively seal the glass tube in place.
