Not bulky like a regular riding jacket yet it has all the armor. The shoulder pads do at first make you look like a football player but it only took one night to flatten them enough to take that look away. Elastic in the bottom waist area of jacket is added bonus for comfort. I'm a thick girl & my boyfriend is thin & because of the elastic it contoured easily to each shape of our bodies. Love this!!
