His enemies include 006, played by Sean Bean, General Ourumov, played by Gottfried John, and Xenia Onatopp, portrayed by Famke Janssen. This 1999 special edition DVD release includes additional audio commentary, making-of featurettes, and backstage content featuring the actors and producer Martin Campbell.

    Goldeneye revived the James Bond legacy

    What most people tend to forget is that the directors & crew produce the quality of a movie, not only the actors and actresses. When we compare James Bond movies many older Bond fans have a tendency to say "Sean Connery was the best Bond" but the style, the politics, and even the social morality of the era any film is produced dictates much of the end result, as well as the indecipherable motivations of HOLLYWOOD. Recovering the Bond fans after the Roger Moore era of 007 films (I'm not faulting Mr. Moore at all) was no easy endeavor, but it was done, brilliantly, with Goldeneye, the first of the Pierce Brosnan era. He carries on the Hollywood tradition of Bond making sarcastic and sometimes sexist quips, but his Bond is more mature and serious than the way Moore was directed to be. ...
