I lowered the bridge humbucker to balance it as it's pretty hot. It did need a setup & had a few sharp fret ends but minor stuff. My first one arrived with blemishes & dents likely due to shipping. Donner was amazing and sent me a new guitar at no cost! Note: the neck on this new one is thinner while the other was chunkier, so it varies from one to another. I have lots of Squire's and have had almost every other brand at some point. This was excellent right out of the box. The action was even set at a nice medium low, and was almost in tune. All I did was peel plastic protectors, check all screws for tightness, clean and condition the fret board, then tune it. Everything works as it should and sounds great though my set up.
