The HTC EVO Shift 4G is a smartphone developed by HTC for use with the Android operating system on Sprint. Designed to benefit from the features of the Sprint nationwide US network, the HTC EVO Shift 4G includes special apps and functionality only available on Sprint. This well-designed device has the capability to access Sprint's 4G WiMAX network for great speed and data transfer over your phone's internet connection for watching videos, playing games, or talking over video chat. This "slider smartphone" offers an integrated classic physical QWERTY keyboard to facilitate text messaging, typing, and email. The EVO Shift comes with factory-installed Android 2.2 with special HTC Sense adaptations for additional functionality and original features.The hardware specs of this mobile Android device are centered around an 800 MHz Qualcomm MSM7630 Snapdragon CPU, which is assisted by 512 MB of RAM for swift usage of applications. This phone also includes 2 GB of onboard storage, and a factory-installed 2 GB microSD. The HTC EVO 4G accommodates microSD cards of up to 32 GB for additional optional storage for all your photos, videos, and songs. The system gets power from a 1.5 Ah Lithium-ion battery which lasts up to six hours of talk time on a single charge. The screen is 3.6 inches in size and displays at a maximum resolution of 800x480 pixels, yielding a 259.15 PPI pixel spread. The rear-facing camera can take photos of up to 5 MP for great memories wherever you are.Cell phone connectivity is provided by a dual-band CDMA/EVDO Rev. A (800 1900 MHz) antenna, with a 2.5 to 2.7 GHz WiMAX 802.16e antenna connecting to the 4G service. WiFi, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, and an FM tuner are also built in. This device has GPS navigation ability to get directions and maps in any location.The EVO Shift is designed to take full advantage of the QWERTY-style physical keyboard. The Android operating system includes the Chrome web browser and Google chat as well as traditional SMS messaging.

    Good as a Replacement

    We bought this as a 'for now' phone when my husband's Note Edge decided to take a dirt nap. While it is a lot smaller and thicker, it's still a good sturdy phone. It was a bit of a pain to get activated as I couldn't complete the activation on my own and instead had to let Sprint do it (chalking it up to the age of the device compared to the plan we are on). The keyboard comes in handy considering that the screen is so small. But it will suffice until we pay off his current device and can upgrade to a new one. Overall, it's a good device as a replacement or would be great for a first time android user.

    not a very good phone

    I've had this phone a few times and the slide out keyboard becomes very loose very quickly. the touch screen starts to mess up and starts making calls on its own. it can not old many apps and is not compatible with much apps because the android version is so old. its good for using if you just make calls and texts.

    The battery that came with the phone was not very good. I bought a new one and it has a good long life with that battery. I wish it had come with a manual as I am not adept with such things.
