Diese Publikation will ein Hilfsmittel flir alle sein, die im allge- meinen Maschinenbau mit Zahnradem zu tun haben. Sie wendet sich also an Konstrukteure, Meister, Mechaniker und Reparateu- reo Bei der Behandlung des Stoffs wurde versucht, dem Praktiker das zu bieten, was er im normalen Betrieb taglich braucht. Darum wurde bewusst auf die Sprache der Werkstatt Rucksicht genom- men und zugunsten einer leichtfasslichen Darstellung auf eine streng korrekte Terminologie verzichtet. Das Hauptstreben ging dahin, die wesentlichen Verzahnungsgesetze, die Bemessung des Zahns und der Radkorper, die Eigenschaften von Zahnradem und einfachen Getrieben, den Einbau und das Notwendigste uber die Zahnradmessung darzulegen. Besonders wichtig schien mir die Behandlung der profilverschobenen Verzahnungen zu sein, vor allem die V -Verzahnung. In dieser Hinsicht ist ein gewisser sorgfaltiger Rechenumfang immer erforderlich, denn schon man- ches Getriebe wurde durch diese Nutzanwendung in seinen Festigkeits-und Laufeigenschaften wesentlich verbessert. Die Berechnung der verschiedenen Zahnrader auf Tragfahigkeit, Biegebeanspruchung, Flankenpressung usw. konnte bei der fest- gelegten Zielsetzung nicht berucksichtigt werden. Eine solche Berechnung war kaum moglich, da Form und Belastbarkeit der Zahnrader immer dem Gebrauchszweck und den Einbauverhalt- nissen angepasst werden mussen; diese muss der Konstrukteur, der die Verhaltnisse kennt, selbst durchflihren. Dieses schwierige Gebiet - insbesondere bei grossen Umfangsgeschwindigkeiten und unsicheren Berechnungsgrundlagen - erfordert in den mei- sten Fallen den Beizug eines Spezialisten und die Erfahrung, uber die nur einschlagige Zahnradhersteller verfligen. Da es sich bei Zahnradem urn eine bestimmte geometrische Formgebung handelt, konnte auf einzelne formelmassige Ab- handlungen (Evolventengeometrie) nicht ganz verzichtet werden.
